Towards the end of January I had the chance to visit Japan with my brother Philip. It was a holiday simply to get away from all the worries in the past few months, as well as a chance to see each other after two years apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The passing of our mother made me want to weave a better web amongst us brothers, Philip, Kevin, and I, simply because the original bond, my mother, isn\u2019t here anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am sure mom would want us to stick together, through good and bad times as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this trip, Philip and I travelled through Kyoto, Osaka, Shusenji (in Izu), and Tokyo. These are the pictures that describe our fun times during this two-week trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where we saw SNOW – I was not as impressed, as I just left snowy Minneapolis to come here…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

But Philip was pretty excited, being that it never snows in Taiwan…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I was just happy to be in a picture with Philip…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We walked another 5 minutes… and suddenly snow was EVERYWHERE…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Of course being that it was a tourist town, there must be some way to make money – further up was an area with a firepit, where venfors sold fish-on-a-stick… and they put EXTRA salt on the fish so they can sell the refreshments too…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Philip tried the fish… SALTY! I had to RUN to the refreshments and buy him something to drink…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The search for Mt. Fuji was a failure… it was too cloudy so there was no way for us to see Mt. Fuji from afar…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All that walking – we decided to sneak my camera into the hot spring area and snap some pictures…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afraid that they would kick us out if they found the camera (it is taking pictures of naked people after all), we stopped and just enjoyed the relaxing hot (really hot!) pool of water around us…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back at our room – in the hotel-supplied bathrobe (standard “uniform” for all other guests – I felt strange NOT wearing them)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After that soak in the hot springs, we all got hungry, and decided to go get something to eat (even though dinner is in another 2 hours…) I MUST NOT EAT ANYMORE. I AM GETTING FAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If anyone is from Japan could he\/she explain what the heck does this picture on the right means? It is on a map of the Izu train lines… what does a man beating a woman up have to do with the area of Atami?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

On the way back from the noodle shop (to have more food at the hotel) we see this strange wooden tower. I decided to walk to the top…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Philip decided not to come up…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The interior consists of nothing but wood. Cleanly designed.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Back to the hotel… Philip decides to pose by the lamp outside our room… The shot was supposed<\/em> to look like he is in deep thought. Instead it looks like he’s fallen down and can’t get up<\/em>… sorry!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Now another look at the bathroom, which I have grown attached to…

The simplistic sink, space-saving and cool-looking.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The bathroom ceiling is accessorized with bamboo sticks to add that asian-feel…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Inside the bathroom… mirrors surround the bathroom (by the way the traditional <\/em>Japanese way to take showers is sitting on a stool, not standing up like Westerners are used to)…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Frosted glass divides the bathtub and the garden outside, with an additional bamboo blind outside (in case you decide to open the window but don’t want anyone to see you naked)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

drain cover is aluminum (or stainless steel), as well as the shower handle itself. The combination of the wood and the metallic feel is one of my favorite points…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
