{"id":123,"date":"2002-11-28T23:56:17","date_gmt":"2002-11-28T23:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sch1auh0s7.site.nfoservers.com\/wp_lew1slau\/?p=123"},"modified":"2022-02-22T00:03:25","modified_gmt":"2022-02-22T00:03:25","slug":"the-parking-ticket-incident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lewislau.com\/index.php\/2002\/11\/28\/the-parking-ticket-incident\/","title":{"rendered":"The Parking Ticket Incident"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I came out of a restaurant the other night to discover that I had received a&nbsp;<em>parking&nbsp;<\/em>ticket:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"210\" height=\"108\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lewislau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20021128_ParkingTicket_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-124\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After confirming that I wasn&#8217;t crazy &#8211; sign read &#8220;NO PARKING 1am &#8211; 8am&#8221;, and the time was&nbsp;8:40pm, I went home to devise my war against the illiterate law enforcement officer who wrote me this ticket &#8211; how did this officer decide to give&nbsp;<em>me&nbsp;<\/em>a ticket and not the 4 other vehicles parked right in front of me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next day, while having lunch with a co-worker (I was still fuming over this incident), I was asked a few strange questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; do I drive a red car?<br>&#8211; what does P\/U stand for?<br>&#8211; was Minnesota FHH 457 the license place for my Miata? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Astonished, I read into the ticket:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"210\" height=\"157\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lewislau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/20021128_ParkingTicket_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-125\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>and discovered that the ticket did not belong to me. Someone decided to just stuff&nbsp;<em>me&nbsp;<\/em>a ticket that they had received&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>what the &amp;%@#?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I suppose this is the scheme &#8211; someone would get this ticket, think that they deserved it, and blindly help pay the fine for the driver who actually got the ticket in a red GMC pickup truck, MN license plate FHH457.
