Transformers Movie

xformers.jpg

I was at the advanced screening of The Transformers movie last night. As expected, Michael Bay made the movie like all his other summer blockbusters - an explosion every 60 seconds, robot transformations that are absolutely awe-inspiring, with a storyline... uh...(I sort of forgot what the story is about). But it doesn't matter. In a nutshell, super-energy cube + good alien robots + bad alien robots = bang / great CG / bang explode bang / action packed robot transformations / more exploding bang bang bang bang.

Honestly, I never got into the cartoon back in the 80s - it was between my He-Man/She-Ra phase morphed into Thundercats, but then Japanimation pulled me into Gundam, Macross, and other better drawn (in my opinion) cartoons. But this is an awesome movie. So far there hasn't been any summer action blockbuster - until now.

Go watch it, even if you don't like robots.

Where are my artistic talents...?

2004_07_flickr_xtrapop.jpg

Surfing over the weekend and stumbled upon this Flickr gallery. I must say I am envious of his talents, to be able to shoot beautiful pictures like these. Here is the entire set.

Not only does he shoot photos, with a sharpie marker and a white t-shirt he can create this.

Another interesting gallery from this artist - from a Red Hot Chilli Pepper stage at Coachella - no it is not porn.

I hope to someday develop talents like these, to be able to see (and capture) something cool out of what is so... ordinary.

Audrey Kawasaki

I don't even remember how I stumbled upon her site. All I remember was that I forced myself to bookmark it so I won't forget her name - Audrey Kawasaki. Somehow her paintings all involve characters that seem so seductive, yet sad.

I live in a Hollywood movie set

2007_07_home_movieset.gif

I have been watching the TV show Heroes the past week, and although it's suppose to take place in New York City, I realized that the scenery is quite familiar... I am certain is filmed right behind my apartment building! In fact, the characters are standing right in front of the Wells Fargo branch where I bank!

Then there is Shooter, the scene where Mark Wahlberg stands in front of my apartment's rental office, attacking two K9 cops ;)

Next up, Rush Hour 3 (where I know they filmed downstairs a few months ago at the vacant ballroom)...

Now whenever I watch TV or movies, I start to look for my apartment in them. Argggh.
